Our Mission
On the backdrop of the fantastic, utilizing story-driven puzzles, games, and artifacts, we try to foster one’s willingness to engage themselves and others in a creative and joyous fashion while quickening the mind and learning about unique technical and cultural aspects of both the tangible world and its less obvious counterparts.
We hope you, the mythically minded, find the appropriate artifacts for yourself or your connected souls, thus creating lines of influence that proceed to invite others. Items will be collected, gifted, treasured, accessorized, spent, and found. The joy at all points of contact will strengthen those lines and steep this magic round and round upon itself like a spiral to the stars.
—Keyrkarin Unicorn
The Boss
MythiQuest’s proprietor, Keyrkarin, is a unicorn. So much more could be said on that count—should be said on that count, probably—but unicorns are inscrutable creatures and this one especially enjoys mysteries.
What I have been asked to say is that “Keyrkarin” is pronounced KEER-kuh-rin. It means “Twice Known Magic.” You can call him Key or Keyr for short. His job is to fund and guide MythiQuest operations and to provide or approve our product designs to make sure they’re unicorny enough.
What I have NOT been asked to say, but am going to say anyway, is that Key’s name is from an ancient language that unicorns invented to speak to ancient humans. Unicorns have their own very different language for speaking among each other, which to me sounds like whalesong layered with some kind of airy saxophone. It’s weirdly beautiful, but there are occasional sharp rises that are almost like screams and it is terrifying after sunset if you’ve never heard it before (personal experience). Also, I think “Twice Known Magic” is a sideways reference to puzzles: a kind of magic known by one, hidden, then found by another. So it’s quite apt for this particular unicorn. Also, Key is a sweet and patient creature, but he talks in riddles and gives away way too much stock.
Keyrkarin is known (among unicorns) for:
Being one of the newest of their kind (not even a full century old yet)
Pranks, tricks, riddles, costumes, frights, and general mayhem that sometimes annoys the elders
A brilliance that outsmarts everyone: sometimes even himself
